Swift Paddles by Eddyline is a place where art meets paddles. We stock some of their most beautiful blades including the Skookum, Mid-Swift, and Wing Swift. The Skookum is a high-angle paddles that is built for power. The Mid-Swift offers plenty of power and is the ideal paddle for extended trips in varied conditions. The blades feature wonderful fabric inlays including the "celestial", "abstract", and "pink ribbon swirl" (Eddyline donates $15 to breast cancer research for every Pink Ribbon Swirl paddle sold!). Finnally, the Wind Swift represents a more traditional blade shape that offers plently of power while being kind to the joints.
Billington Sea Kayak has been a proud dealer of Werner Paddles for many years. We keep a variety of blade shapes in stock including the Camano, the Little Dipper, Shuna. The Camano is a classic low-angle blade that offers the perfect balance for a powerful forward stroke with seamless transitions. Smaller paddlers may enjoy the scaled down Little Dipper for a higher cadence stroke with a little less impact. If you're the high-angle type then the Shuna is the paddle for you. We also have a few Little Dipper Classic paddles left in stock so if you're a traditionalist then you should swing by and scoop these up while supplies last!
Things to Consider When Choosing a Kayak Paddle
Kayak paddles come in several lengths, usually measured in centimeters. Important considerations in choosing a paddle are your size and strength, your paddling style and skill, and how you want to handle your kayak. If you are looking for a paddle for power, quick maneuverability, and plenty of bracing ability then you may want to consider a larger blade surface paddle. If you're concerned about wear and tear on your joints and becoming more fatigued after a few hours of paddling then a narrower, longer blade surface may be the right choice.
There are also choices of paddle materials (wood, aluminum, fiberglass, carbon fiber, ect) that should be considered in terms of where you will be paddling, conditions, and the length of your paddling trips. However, the most important thing to consider when buying a paddle is to make sure it fits your size, your boat size, and paddling style. At Billington Sea Kayak, you can try our paddles at the same time you try out our kayaks and canoes - on the water, every weekend.
