Little Wing 15.5 Sailing Model demo

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

On Saturday, June 27, Ted, Barbara and Zack Warren were here at the shop with the new Little Wing 15.5 Sailing Model. Several staff members including myself had an opportunity to sail the rig on Billington Sea. Winds were light and sometimes unpredictable but enough to show us what a remarkably easy and fun sailing craft. The entire kayak, beams, amors, mast, and sails are very easily car-topped taking up the space of two kayaks. The setup time is less than 10 minutes and the heaviest part is the kayak at 30 lbs. Everything is well constructed and goes together very simply. p62713061p62712921p62713031 All of the line controls are well thought out and readily accessible. The rudder foot controls works smoothly and efficiently. Even those of us who have never sailed or, in my case, haven’t sailed in about fifty years, found the Little Wing 15.5 easy to operate. Of course it is understood that sailing well is a result of sailing often and learning every time out, but this rig would be a real joy to experience the sailing time in.
