KAYAK FISHING WORKSHOP

April 27th, 2010

“TIPS FROM EXPERIENCE”

Join us on SATURDAY, MAY 15, 10:30-12:30 for a FREE KAYAK FISHING WORKSHOP.
Two local kayak fishermen, Charlie Fortier and Wayne Perry will be here at the Billington Sea Kayak shop located on Billington Sea in Plymouth, presenting “Tips from Experience” on fishing from a kayak. Both have years of fishing experience and for the last 3 years have been fishing from kayaks. They will be happy to share their kayak fishing experience and will be covering topics including gear, setting up your kayak, kayak fishing techniques, and safety.

So, along with Charlie and Wayne’s experience and Billington Sea Kayak’s 24 years of kayak and canoe knowledge, participants can gain 1st hand information on kayak fishing. There will be opportunity to ask questions as well as paddle some of the kayaks that are designed for kayak fishing.

This is a FREE workshop but there are only a limited number of spaces available so pre-registration is required. Please call Billington Sea Kayak at 508-746-5644 to register.

Little Wing 15.5 Sailing Model demo

July 2nd, 2009

On Saturday, June 27, Ted, Barbara and Zack Warren were here at the shop with the new Little Wing 15.5 Sailing Model. Several staff members including myself had an opportunity to sail the rig on Billington Sea. Winds were light and sometimes unpredictable but enough to show us what a remarkably easy and fun sailing craft. The entire kayak, beams, amors, mast, and sails are very easily car-topped taking up the space of two kayaks. The setup time is less than 10 minutes and the heaviest part is the kayak at 30 lbs. Everything is well constructed and goes together very simply. p62713061p62712921p62713031 All of the line controls are well thought out and readily accessible. The rudder foot controls works smoothly and efficiently. Even those of us who have never sailed or, in my case, haven’t sailed in about fifty years, found the Little Wing 15.5 easy to operate. Of course it is understood that sailing well is a result of sailing often and learning every time out, but this rig would be a real joy to experience the sailing time in.
